“I became aware that we‘re all connected. This was not only every person and living creature, but the interwoven unification felt as though it were expanding outward to include everything in the universe—every human, animal, plant, insect, mountain, sea, inanimate object, and the cosmos. I realized that the entire universe is alive and infused with consciousness, encompassing all of life and nature. Everything belongs to an infinite Whole.”

I was floating just above my body. My mind was alert, without opinion—acting only as an observer. I was entering a super-conscious state with an overview of all my lives! Although my mind had become completely stilled, it was razor-focused, starkly different from my day-to-day awareness. An enormous, powerful wave of deep peace washed over me, creating the pleasant sensation of a comforting spiritual blanket being pulled over my body.
I was twenty minutes into my past-life spiritual-regression session with Scott De Tamble. Scott is a wonderfully talented, Newton-trained, Life Between Lives® spiritual hypnotherapist. I’d met him a month earlier during a lecture he was giving near his practice in Los Angeles. Scott worked for six years with the Newton Institute as a volunteer helping to train experienced hypnotherapists in the art of Life Between Lives therapy. I was impressed with his insight and compassion, so I approached him afterwards. We exchanged emails and set up this past-life hypnotherapy session.
Now lying in a comfortable reclining chair with my eyes closed, I was amazed at his skillful induction. I had not lost consciousness during the session as some believe happens during hypnotherapy. On the contrary, my mind was in a rare, crystal-clear state. Scott was working to relax my critical left brain to release all my daily concerns and tensions, encouraging me to feel a spiritual wave wash them away into an ocean sunset.
After a series of exercises to deepen my trance, he shifted my awareness to my right-hemisphere visual brain, with its ability to perceive an expansive overarching reality. Scott’s skillful induction paved the path for an older, wiser part of me to come forward. My higher self, able to communicate with greater Souls, would soon speak authoritatively about subjects completely unknown to me—and make contact with an aspect of life I’d never dreamed existed. I was minutes away from a spiritual adventure I’ll never forget.
Scott: I want to remind you, there is record of everything you’ve ever experienced, every thought, every word, every deed, every situation—it’s all included. It’s time now to work together to begin to allow these experiences to come to the surface. On my count, as I count from ten down to one, we’re going to move to a past lifetime, a previous existence that you lived, perhaps one that has laid buried in your unconscious for a long time. Some other lifetime that has a meaningful connection to your current life and the current moment. We are going to move into a tunnel of space and time which leads back into your past. The mind knows where to go. As you trust what comes, it all becomes crystal clear.
All right now. Moving into that tunnel of space and time, through the wormhole, through thecosmos, that leads into your own past. [Scott takes several minutes to further deepen my trance state, counting in stages from ten down to two.]
. . . On the very next count, you are going to sense yourself in another time, another place, in another body. And you’ll know that it’s you. All right now. Here we go. Move out of the tunnel and be there now! Allow the impressions to form inside of you and all around.
I’m going to ask you some questions. I want you to respond with the very first thing that comes to you, whether you see it, feel it, sense it, know it, or are responding to an inner voice. Trust the first thing [that comes to mind] is the right thing.
So, first impressions now, is it daytime or nighttime?
Mike: Sunset.
S: Are you indoors or outdoors?
M: Outdoors.
S: Standing or sitting?
M: Standing.
S: Tell me about the surface that you are standing on.
M: I’m standing barefoot in a rice pond, terraced into a mountainside. There’s about one hundred other rice paddies below me, and some above. I’m in the east end of a curved mountain valley near the top. We’ve just finished planting in ponds filled with quiet, reflective pools of water. I love this time. I love this place. The oranges and pinks of the sunset are reflecting on the mirror-like surface of a hundred other rice ponds below me in this beautiful mountain valley. A river is flowing through the valley far below. It’s absolutely magical.
S: Take a few moments of quiet to enjoy this scene. [Scott gives me a minute to marvel at a glorious sunset. The oranges, purples and blues reflecting from the freshly planted rice ponds below merged the sky and earth in breath taking beauty. A feeling of absolute peace and joy filled me.] And so, there on the mountainside at sunset, tell me about yourself. Are you male or female?
M: I’m a male. Maybe five feet, four inches [tall]. I’m standing in the rice paddy, ankle deep in water. My pants are rolled up to my knees. I’ve been working all day, planting my rice crops. Most of the villagers have left. It’s getting dark and they are hungry. I’m working late. And this is my favorite time.
I’m having a spiritual experience. It’s as if the mountain... the mountain is flowing through my feet. It’s Spirit. I feel so deeply connected to nature like I haven’t been in other lifetimes... so deeply connected to the consciousness that is Earth. In this moment, my heart opens up to a vast wisdom that flows through animals—and flows through life. I’m so divorced from it now [in my present life], from that special relationship. All my other lifetimes were skimming the surface, battles, politics, religions, always dealing with stress. In this one unique moment, in this one lifetime—I feel so connected. It’s going so deep inside of me... some other wisdom... some other Being! Ahhh… [overwhelmed].
S: Take a few moments. I want you to describe for me, as best you can, this feeling of connection. And also, describe for me that vast consciousness, that vast wisdom that you are connecting to. Talk about that.
M: I think it’s the only time in all my lives that I connected to this. There is an old Soul that moves within the Earth. The Earth is its body. I never dreamed of such a thing! Such love and warmth! I can feel the Earth at its core and its energy. But beyond that, this Soul is connecting with me in a special way.
I’m overwhelmed! I never dreamed of so much beauty. An ancient wisdom is governing plants, our forests, and the movement of tectonic plates. An ancient being, who is so very conscious, and is aware of, and frustrated with humankind. Such profound wisdom and compassion! I had no idea!
And as I connect to that Soul, I connect to other Souls, and other planets, and other galaxies. [At this moment, inwardly, I felt like I was floating above my body connected to an enormous intellect. I saw beautiful galactic light wavesflowing like winds throughout our solar system and galaxy. The light waves were intricate and conscious, and facilitated a conscious interaction between other solar bodies that had developed a mature awareness. Our universe is alive!]
There’s a heart-wisdom connection that is inter-dimensional. This energy feeds consciousness into us [planets]. It gives us life energy though our star systems, so we can provide a suitable environment for Souls to come, live, and have their being. Ohhh, my Lord! [I became overwhelmed when my inner vision opened to see/sense enormous, super-evolved Souls moving and working within our universe.] There are so many fantastic beings, unimaginably large, moving in our universe! In and out, watching over the galaxies, watching over the movement.
Ohhh! [Overwhelmed. Taking a few moments to collect myself. The scene was too much for me. I had to close down a bit. Inwardly, I retreated to a state more connected to my body.]
S: Now this fellow standing in the rice paddies, what is his name? What shall we call him?
M: I hear, Ma Sin. Mah Sin [over-pronouncing it]. Accent on Sin. He has a straw hat like a flat cone, very dark skin. He’s in his fifties, but he looks more like he’s in his eighties. He is weathered by the sun and a lifetime spent in rice fields. He has very dark, wrinkled skin. Chinese. I think I’m in a sacred valley in China above the Yin River.
S: What is the year that Ma Sin stands on the mountain? If you can translate that into our western dates?
M: 1460 A.D. It wasn’t a long life. He passed away not long after this experience. He lived an uneventful life. It was that one moment, that spiritual experience, that I had.
S: Let’s go back into that moment where Ma Sin was standing ankle deep in the water, in a rice paddy, and becoming aware of this great Soul, this great being, whose body is the Earth. I want to have Ma Sin open his heart, open his mind, open every part of himself to this great, wise, compassionate being, this vast planetary consciousness. Let us allow Ma Sin to relax and communicate with that great, ancient, wise being.
And now I am going to speak with reverence to that ancient being. I know that ancient being can hear me, and see me, and feel me, and know me. I’m going to ask that great, wise being to respond through the mind of Ma Sin, though the voice of Michael. Would that be okay with you.
M: Yes. [Mike’s voice. Note: I was surprised at Scott’s request to speak to this Earth Soul. I felt like I was floating many miles above Earth watching what was happening with some doubt that an Earth Soul would speak through me. I was skeptical and very surprised at what happened next.]
It is allowed. [Different, deeper, graveled voice. This voice surprised me because it wasn’t my own. Some higher-conscious being was speaking through me. It was extremely strange, but wonderful at the same time.]
S: We humans like names, or something to call you. What may I call you?
M: We are without name. But call us Tudigong, meaning Earth Spirit. [I looked up Tudigong months later to discover it was an old Chinese name for the Spirit that lives within the Earth.]
S: Tudigong, you say, we. Are there more than one that inhabit this planet?
M: Our consciousness is complex. It is one Soul, but it is an Oversoul, like cells within a being. I am that Soul, but many Souls dwell within me as my body moves and takes direction from Source. We is part of the I, and I work through the We. It’s confusing to the human brain, but it’s quite natural—and it’s the way things are. So We is the greater Soul, the Oversoul that has many conscious parts working within it.
S: What is your role here in the Earth; what is your purpose?
M: I came before Earth was created. I came from the higher planes after what you might think of [as] the Big Bang. There was an expression of many Souls afterwards, a rush of Souls that came forth from the higher planes. When the time became appropriate, I took my place in the universe.
It was my energy that began to coalesce the space matter. It was my energy that began the singular evolution of this planet. And so it would seem to the human mind that I am ancient. But within my own measure, this is my life. It’s normal. I do not consider myself an old Soul; I am a Soul that is becoming.
S: Tudigong, why did you decide to create this planet?
M: There was a call by Source for the great Oversouls, the planetary spirits. Unimaginable numbers of Souls were birthed into the physical dimension. It was our choice. It is our path. When this planet ends its life, I shall return to Source. My life will continue in another way. This is normal. This is what is happening behind the scenes in all galaxies, in all universes. This is the unseen support for Soul as it grows and evolves in the physical dimension.
S: So when this planet ends and you return to Source, will you go on to embody another planet? Do you have plans? What will you do then?
M: I have no will in this. I have no plans. This is what I am called upon by Source to do. It’s my great pleasure to serve.
S: Tudigong, what is Source?
M: It’s my breath, the breath of all of life. It’s that which we all are, breathing, living, seeing. The One that sees within everyone’s eyes, the One that hears through everyone’s ears, the One that feels everything that happens, the One that speaks through all voices, the One that thinks through all minds and experiences all thoughts.
It disguises Itself over and over, in layers upon layers so that we can grow, and learn, and know more about It. The presence of Source can be felt when the heart is open and love is present. Source energy is experienced by humans as love. It connects one person to another, people to a community, plants to animals, connects the Earth to the Sun, the Sun to the galaxies, and the galaxies to faraway planets and universes, in layers upon layers upon layers of reality.
S: Thank you. Was there any moment of origin for this Source? Will there be a moment of Its demise?
M: There is no origin. There is no demise. Origin and demise are concepts of the lower states. It’s reasonable to expect [a beginning and end] from the human perspective. All that man sees has a beginning. And all that man sees has an end. But this viewpoint focuses on particle-based reality, not frequency-based reality. Particle-based reality is sustained by layers upon layers of frequency—sound light energy coming from Source, filtered through realities so that It can function, support, and create a stable existence for Soul.
When this reality goes through a phase where its expansion turns in on itself, all lower realities are phased inward, almost like folding into one enormous black hole. And so this is the creation that happens. Some call it The Day of God. But there have been many creations—many Days of God.
S: Do you speak of the Big Bang as the expansion of the breath of the universe?
M: It’s what you call the Big Bang. It was more like a rebound. One existence swallowed up into a higher dimension, and then Source expressing Itself again into another continuum, another Creation Event. These events are happening not infrequently.
S: Is this a perpetual, or eternal cycle?
M: There is no such thing as eternal—just, What is. But in your language, in your understanding, “Yes,” would be the closest answer [to help you understand]. This is happening not just in this area of the physical. There are regions of expression, and this is one region.
S: Regions in space? Or regions in other dimensions?
M: Regions in this physical space. There’s an edge to all the trillions and trillions of galaxies. This is one region.
S: So you’re saying that space is finite.
M: No, definitely not. It’s a creation of the higher planes. There are simply other physical spaces. Other star systems, if you wish. These galaxies are not in your area. Existence is beyond Soul’s ability to comprehend. It’s better, more compassionate, to let humankind create their own stories of creation, from rural people who create religions to the scientists exploring astral and quantum physics. Let them create something that they can understand and comprehend, something that makes sense and works for them. And allow it [their understanding] to evolve. Because actual reality—it would be unkind to expose humankind to actual reality. Let them grow into it.
S: Tudigong, tell us the true story of creation.
M: Creation of what? Earth? Galaxies?
S: All of it.
M: There’s only so much that I know. I can tell you about Earth.
S: That would suffice.
